The Online Language Program, designed after the manner of the Tutor Program by the ’OKOSITO’ Endowment of Hungary, is aimed to support equal opportunity in language learning. Its basic goal is to develop and design online language content and publish it through the Internet free of charge. The learning units are widely used by children and pupils, their parents and teachers during school lessons and home learning but they can offer support to beginners and returning language learners of all ages, too.

Traditional Hungarian language courses are focused on vocabulary alone. Therefore, it very often happens that several years of language instruction results in only a passive command of a language. The student can understand foreign texts but is not able to formulate spoken responses. On the contrary, our online lessons are based on sentences and expressions; they support understanding with concise summaries. Our lessons are aimed to capture one’s attention and to transfer maximum information within a short time.

The program contains basic language lessons in four European languages: English, German, French and Italian. The principle of our audiovisual lessons is that language learning should rest on auditive information. This is most important because European languages are not phonetically spelled; unlike Hungarian, foreign languages are written differently from the pronunciation heard. A remarkable advantage of our online program is the parallel, multilingual development, that supports distinction of grammatical differences among foreign languages.

Our online program is supported by a registry of tutors/teachers and recommended language coursebooks. The object of our virtual language school is to raise interest in foreign languages and language learning itself.
